Bite Index is built with your privacy in mind. This policy explains what information is collected when you use the App, how it is used, and with whom it is shared. I am committed to being transparent and collecting only what is necessary to provide the service.
This Privacy Policy applies to all users of the Bite Index mobile application ("the App") on iOS and Android, developed and operated by Adam Shakal ("Developer," "I," "me"), based in Wisconsin, USA.
| Data Type | Description |
|---|---|
| Device Identifier | A randomly generated anonymous ID created on first launch. Not linked to your name, Apple ID, Google account, or any personally identifying information. Used only to maintain app state across sessions. |
| Location Coordinates | GPS coordinates collected when location permission is granted, used to fetch local weather and conditions data. Most recent coordinates and reverse-geocoded location name are cached for return visits. |
| Purchase Status | Whether the Species Pack has been purchased. Stored anonymously against device identifier only. |
| Ad Usage Count | Number of rewarded advertisement unlocks remaining out of 5 lifetime uses. |
| Notification Preferences | Your notification settings, if applicable. |
Information collected is used solely for the following purposes:
I do not use your information for targeted advertising, profiling, or any purpose beyond operating the App.
The App integrates with third-party services that may collect information independently under their own privacy policies. I encourage you to review their policies directly.
Provides backend database services. Anonymous device state data is stored on Supabase infrastructure.
supabase.com/privacy →Manages in-app purchase verification and entitlement tracking. May collect purchase receipts and transaction data to verify your Species Pack purchase.
revenuecat.com/privacy →Serves rewarded video advertisements when you choose to watch one. AdMob may collect device information and usage data in accordance with Google's privacy policies.
policies.google.com/privacy →Provides weather and atmospheric conditions data using your coordinates. Open-Meteo does not store or share location data submitted in API requests.
open-meteo.com/en/terms →Location data is treated with particular care:
If you deny location permission, no GPS coordinates are collected. If you use the manual search feature, the searched coordinates are used only for the duration of that session and are never stored.
Anonymous device state data is retained for as long as you use the App. If you uninstall the App your local data is removed from your device. Anonymous backend data associated with your device identifier may persist in Supabase infrastructure for a reasonable period after uninstall.
I do not currently provide a formal data deletion request mechanism. If you wish to request deletion of data associated with your anonymous device identifier please contact me at adam@krawlrlabs.com and I will process your request within a reasonable timeframe.
The App is not directed at children under the age of 13. I do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child under 13 has provided information through the App please contact me at adam@krawlrlabs.com and I will take steps to remove that information.
I take reasonable technical and organizational measures to protect the information stored in connection with the App. Anonymous device state data is stored on Supabase infrastructure which employs industry-standard security practices. However no method of transmission or storage is 100% secure and I cannot guarantee absolute security.
You may grant or revoke location permission at any time in your device Settings app. Revoking permission does not delete previously cached coordinates but prevents new coordinates from being collected.
You may choose not to watch rewarded advertisements — doing so simply means the rewarded unlock feature is unavailable. Ad watching is always opt-in and initiated by you.
In-app purchase data is managed by Apple or Google. Refer to their respective privacy policies for information on how purchase data is handled.
I may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. If I make material changes I will update the effective date at the top of this document. Your continued use of the App after changes are posted constitutes your acceptance of the updated policy.
If you have any questions, concerns, or requests regarding this Privacy Policy or your data, please contact:
